Entertainer. With James McIntyre, he was part of the vaudeville team McIntyre and Heath, formed in 1874. The two white comedians, who always played in blackface, were the best-known, and highest paid, minstral performers of all time, and introduced the "buck and wing" tapdance routine as well as the song "Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight," which was adopted by Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders in the Battle of San Juan Hill.
