Joel was born in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi to Alma & Thomas Quintini, the fourth of five children. She attended St. Joseph Academy where she fell in love with sports, playing both volleyball and basketball.
Joel married Lucien Henry Raymond III in 1957 at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic church in Bay St. Louis. Joel & Lucien lived throughout Texas, before settling in Houston in the 1970s. Together they built a close-knit family with four children and were married for 38 years until Lucien’s passing in 1995.
Joel loved being with her children and her family more than anything. She also loved to fish, garden, and was an avid golfer, scoring a hole-in-one at age 70 on the 16th hole at the Bear Creek golf course.
Joel is survived by her four children, Mike, Brian, Tim, Mary Jane, and her “out-laws”, Melissa, Tammy, Mary Ellen and Cobby; as well as her 12 grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Brice, Caitlin, Marissa, Colby, Brianna, Emma Joel, Cobby Raymond, Abigail, Hannah, and Grace, 3 great-grandchildren, Parker, Devin, and Kadence, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her loud but loving dog, Buddy.
Joel’s family would like to thank all the people at Home Instead for their kindness and care over the past year, especially Louise.
Joel was a straight shooter with a sweet tooth and a heart of gold, and she will be greatly missed.
Services for Joel will be held at 10am on Tuesday, June 4 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Houston, TX.
