Carol Betty Hastings, age 89 years, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Medi-Lodge of Cass City. She was born on September 3, 1929 in Clarksville, Michigan the daughter of the late George and Sadie (Grabil) Dunham. Carol was united in marriage to Ralph Hastings and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1993. She enjoyed singing and attending church services. Carol was a member of the Vassar First United Methodist Church.
Surviving family include her six children, Sharon Partlo, Carol (Douglas) Bennett, Sandra (Tim) Nelkie, Steven Hastings, William Hastings and Thomas Hastings; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her brothers, Foster and Leroy Dunham; a sister, Lucille Kuhns and a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Nelkie.
A memorial service is planned for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Vassar First United Methodist Church, 139 N. Main St. in Vassar. Pastor Scott Sherrill officiating with private interment at Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar.
