Dana Michele Shoemaker, age 57, died peacefully in the arms of her husband on May 22, 2019 at their home in Willow Street, PA after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dana was born on December 22, 1961 in Long Beach, California and moved to Lancaster County in 1965. She was the daughter of Nancy L. (Rineer) and David F. Eckenrode of Lampeter, PA. Dana graduated in 1980 from Solanco High School. She worked for many years in the hospitality industry fronting the desk at The Brunswick Hotel and The General Sutter Inn. For the past 15 years she was employed by Armstrong World Industries as a Customer Service Representative on ASA & Direct teams utilizing her gift for solving problems. Dana shared 25 years of companionship with her husband and was happily married on August 22, 2015 to her best friend and partner in life Jeffrey H. Shoemaker.

Dana was a free and gentle spirit who touched the lives of so very many through art and photography, often showing her love by gifting her beautiful handmade creations. She was a voracious reader and lover of music, supporting her husband as he played the drums for several bands in the area. Dana lived a life full of devoted friends and simple beauty. She adored her friends and family, animals, flowers and gardening, and the ocean. Dana had a brilliant wit and wonderful sense of humor-a delight to all who knew her. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was deeply loved by many. Her beautiful soul will be forever cherished.

Dana is survived by her husband and through marriage, 3 children, Joshua M. (Anita) Shoemaker of Mt. Joy, Jeffrey H. (Masa) Shoemaker Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA, Jennifer L. (Shoemaker) Santiago of Mountville, 7 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dana shared an especially close bond with niece Georgia ‘Gigi' Birch of West Chester, PA; parents, Nancy and David Eckenrode of Lampeter, PA; sisters, Susan L. Hamm of West Chester, PA, Allyson L. Pham of Lancaster, PA, and Jennifer K. (Daren) Hynes-Huey of Richmond, VA; aunts and uncles, Marla and Donald Wert of Strasburg, PA, Gerald and Rose Rineer of Lancaster, PA; and brother-in-law, G. Drew Shoemaker of Millersville, PA.

A private celebration honoring Dana's life will be held later this summer for close friends and family. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude for all those who were steadfast and courageous in their support.
