Laura Elaine Greathouse Rockwell
Laura Elaine Greathouse Rockwell was born July 12, 1957, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales, New Mexico, and passed May 30, 2019, at Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Oregon. The family moved from New Mexico to Grants Pass, Oregon, where she attended and graduated from Grants Pass High School. She married a few years later, and had two daughters, Janniel, born 1976, and Nichole, born 1979.
Laura worked in the insurance business underwriting policies as a licensed and bonded insurance agent. She retired this past year.
Laura loved to travel, tell jokes, especially on herself, and most of all, she loved her family. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, fought it tenaciously as only she could, and went into remission. A few years later the cancer returned. She fought this second go around with the same tenacity as she did the first time, unfortunately she lost her battle, and went home to be with our Lord and Savior. Heaven has a new warrior standing fast against the forces of evil, watching over our family.
She is survived by her husband of four years, Asa Rockwell; Laura's daughters, Janniel Gonzales (Janniel's children, Chyenne, Alize, Jeremiah) and Nichole Veon, husband, James (Nichole's children, Kayla, Brandon, Brooke, Kostas, Athena and Giuliana); sisters, Mary Greathouse Duffy and Martha Lynn Mills; and brother, Mel Greathouse.
Preceding her in death were siblings Marcia Ann Sinclair and H. Lee Greathouse; and her granddaughter, Alexandra Hanna.
Funeral services for Laura will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2019, at Hull & Hull Mortuary, located at 612 NW A St., Grants Pass, OR. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 15, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, located at 945 NE Hillcrest Dr., Grants Pass, followed by a potluck lunch in her honor at The Vineyard Christian Fellowship, located at 275 Potts Way, Grants Pass, OR.
