Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the Church of the Resurrection. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday June 3rd at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Road where there will be a wake service at 6:30 p.m.
Carol was born August 11, 1948 in Dubuque, daughter of Louis and Anna (McCarthy) Heacock. She married the love of her life, Ron Winter on August 20, 1966 at St. Philomena’s Catholic Church in Dubuque.
Carol was a graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. Carol was active at Resurrection parish and helped plan and volunteer with funeral dinners.
She was the owner and operator of Carol’s Custom Window Treatments for many years retiring in 2018 do to her illness. She loved her job and her many clients.
Her grandchildren were very special to her and gave her great joy. She was an Iowa Hawkeye fan. She enjoyed traveling, especially in Ireland. She loved tending to her flowers, birdwatching and the outdoors..
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Ron; children, Becky Bradley of North Liberty, IA, Tami (Joseph) Hentges of Marion, IA, Chad (Tammy) Winter, and Ronda (Eddie) Carpenter, both of Dubuque; her grandchildren, Jordan (Jordan Seymour), Jade Bradley, Joey, Nick, Megan Hentges, Tyler, Alex, and Karlee Winter, Jacob Mace, Heather (Curt) Decker, Nick “Cooper”, Taylor Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Sophi, Presley Seymour Bradley, and two more expected; her sister, Gloria Herbst, brothers, Kenny (Helen) Heacock, Dean (Sally) Heacock, and Duane (Mary) Heacock. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Arvel “Red” Heacock, a nephew, Gene Herbst, and a brother-in-law, Ed Herbst.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Hermann, the staff at Grand River Oncology Clinic, Hospice of Dubuque and Deacon Mike Ellis for their loving care.
