Gary Julian Dunn, 71, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Hospice Care Center of Chattanooga.

He was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Misty Michelle; brother, Paul Edward Dunn; and parents, Vater and Sally Kerr Dunn.

Gary had started working at the age of 13 at Ed’s Processing Company and at Tip Top Food Town as a butcher. He was working as a meat cutter at Food Maxx in 1995 when he had a massive stroke coming full circle in his career. Before his stroke he had worked at several places but was most proud of working at the Cleveland Police Department. He was a member of Cleveland’s first Swat Team and at times was a motorcycle policeman. He left the force in 1984 as a Sergeant.

He was proud to be a member of Elkmont Baptist Church and loved his pastor and his wife, Johnny and Shirley Hood. Gary was also a member of the Cleveland Masonic Lodge #134 F&AM.

He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Jimmie Frady Dunn; sister, Melody Dockery; along with several cousins and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverend Johnny Hood officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
