Donald Gene Hollingsworth, of Round Hill, Va., formerly of Herndon, Va., died Feb. 16, 2017.
Born Sept. 2, 1931, in Leitersburg, Washington County, Md., he was the youngest son of the late Sheridan (Dick) W. Hollingsworth and the late Mary Edna Hollingsworth.
He graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1949. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956, and during the Korean War. His career spanned from 1956 to 1989 with the National Weather Service. He was a talented woodworker, enjoyed traveling, playing baseball, and spending time with friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Doris Elaine Hollingsworth (Warner), who passed away on March 6, 2014, and brother, Walter Richard Hollingsworth of Hagerstown, Md., who passed away on Feb. 3, 2015.
He is survived by sons, Douglas Gene Hollingsworth and wife, Cindy, of Round Hill, Perry Lynn Hollingsworth and wife, Deb, of Round Hill, and daughter, Joni Elaine Constantine and husband, Arthur, of Round Hill, and also seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 4, 2017, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home in Purcellville, Va. ( www.hallfh.com). Interment will be private.
