While she always looked lovely and carried herself with grace and elegance, it was her quiet internal strength, keen wit and genuine kindness that were her most attractive features. Her graciousness combined with superb culinary skills made her the perfect hostess who always made people feel welcome and comfortable in her home.
She married the love of her life, Robert Kane, on September 1, 1951. When they gracefully moved about a dance floor, the perfection of their pairing was obvious. Bob and Keke were two people made to be together and they were happily so for 56 years. They had five children who all feel they hit the parent jackpot and ten grandchildren whom they showered with love, pride and way too many Häagen-Dazs bars. It's no wonder they were adored grandparents.
Besides her family and friends, she loved nice manners, humility, generosity, a good book, a great joke, 18 holes with a fun foursome, the piano, Coca-Cola on the rocks from a 6.5oz glass bottle, chilled Rombauer, hot fudge sundaes and deviled eggs.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, father Joe, mother Mae, brother Joe and son-in-law Chris Coogan. She is survived by her children, Steve (Brenda), Anne, Tom (Nancy), Jim (Sandy), Mary (David), her grandchildren, Sarah, Molly, Kelsey, Nolan, Brody, Riley, Kristin, Brian, Hannah and Robert and her favorite sister, Anne Edel.
Her family would like to express deep appreciation to all those who helped them care for her over the years, with special gratitude to Talica and Jarina for caring for and loving Keke as though she was their own.
The family requests remembrances be directed to:
