ONE OF MANHATTAN'S BEST YOUNG GIRLS, MARIE KNIGHT, IS DEAD.

A particularly sad death is that of Miss Marie Knight, aged 14 years, which occurred about 4:30 this morning at her home on Moro Street. Death followed an operation yesterday for an abscess which was the result of an attack of fever. She was the only child of Mr. & Mrs. M. C. Knight and had she lived until tomorrow, would have been 15 years old.

The funeral will be held at the Christian church tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. From the church the body will be taken to the Rock Island depot and shipped to Belleville where burial will take place Saturday morning.

There is not a girl in Manhattan perhaps, of the age of Marie Knight, who has more friends, is as popular or generally liked as well by everybody as she was. Though young, she was a faithful member of the Christian church and Sunday school. She was a favorite among her friends and to know her well, was to love her. She will be greatly missed in the younger set in Manhattan.
