Anthony "Tony" Stephen Parton passed away on May 25, 2019 in Albuquerque, NM at the Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center.
Anthony was born in Sheridan, WY on November 27, 1951 to Marjorie Catherine Mills and Edward Weslie Parton.
Tony grew up in Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1970. Tony was active in Sheridan High School’s Navy ROTC and intramural wrestling.
Tony enlisted in the United States Navy in October of 1970, but due to health issues he received an honorable discharge in 1976.
Tony spent many years working as a cook at a variety of food establishments in Sheridan. Tony was most fond of his time working at the Ladore in Story. Tony also attended Sheridan College and received his Associate of Science Degree in 1988.
Tony married Nora Yates of Sheridan, WY on June 28, 2003 and they moved to Rio Rancho, NM in 2008 where they resided until his passing.
Tony had a passion for the outdoors and loved camping, hiking, rock climbing and panning for gold in his later years.
Tony was preceded in death by his mother, father, daughter, Jessica Parton, brother, John Parton, aunt, Jean Mills Ratcliff, uncle, John Mills and grandparents, John and Catherine Mills.
Tony is survived by his sister, Susie Thompson of Sheridan, WY, eight children and step-children, Christina Morman and family of Albuquerque, NM, Michael Parton and family of Tyler, TX, Ben Parton and family of Loveland, CO, Jennifer Joy Martínez-Santiago and family of Greeley, CO, Heather Greenlee and family of Casper, WY, Andrea Walker of Casper, WY, Tyler Littler and family of Casper, WY and Charles Littler and family of Rio Rancho NM and 22 grandchildren.
Tony wished to be cremated and a portion of his ashes will be placed in a keepsake and buried at the headstone of his daughter, Jessica and another portion will be spread by his sons in the Big Horn Mountains at several of his favorite locations.
There will be a memorial plaque placed and a military service for Tony on July 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho, NM. There will also be a lunch gathering at Charles Littlers house following the ceremony.
