~~~The Record-Argus (Greenville, PA) Thur, 13 Jul 1922
"Mrs W. T. S. Baer, 241 East Avenue, Greenville, has won her long fight against the Protected Home Circle for Insurance on her husband's life. The court awarded her the full amount of the policy with interest and placed the costs on the Protected Home Circle. The amount of the policy was $2,000, to which was added the interest from July 12, 1921, $115 , making $2,116 in all.
Mr Baer disappeared from home in Greenville on March 12, 1914. Mrs Baer and her friends and neighbors and newspapers made every effort to locate the missing man but not a shed of reliable tidings, good or bad were ever obtained. Streams of water were dragged and woods searched. He was declared legally dead.
Mr Baer was a man of high standing, a contractor, with a wife and 5 children, an active member of the Presbyterian Church and the Odd Fellows. His sudden disappearance was and is inexplicable and all efforts to unravel the mystery have failed."
~~~The Record-Argus, Tues, 7 Apr 1914
"Rumor started early Monday morning that W. T. S. Baer, the missing contractor here, had been found in Rochester, PA. Messrs Hildebrand and Cozad left for Rochester Tuesday morning and report that the man who was drowned in the river at that city was not W. T. S. Baer. The man found was much shorter than Baer. His shoes and clothing were different and the only similar facts about the man was the gold, crowned eye tooth and gold bridge."

~~~New Castle Herald, Mon, 6 Apr 1914
