Mrs Effie Menuez, a former native of Ramsay Township, passed away suddenly in a St. Petersburg, Florida, hospital on December 10th, 1972. Born April 7, 1897, to the late Thomas Craig and Isabella McAllister, she was the last surviving member of the family. She was educated at No 9, Ramsay and Almonte High School and some years later joined her sister in Massillon, Ohio Hospital, where she trained as a nurse. She was predeceased by two sisters, Emma (Mrs John Hough), White Lake; Bertha (Mrs M. Albright), Massillon, Ohio, and a brother Thomas, 8th line of Ramsay. She was also predeceased by her husband 19 years ago. Brief services were held in St Petersburg and Massillon before the remains of Mrs Menuez were brought to Almonte where funeral services were held at the Comba Funeral Home on December 28th. Rev Douglas McQuaig, pastor of Almonte Presbyterian church which Mrs Menuez attended in early life conducted the service. Interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Pallbearers were neighbours Gordon Barr, Andrew More, John Camelot and John Gleeson. In lieu of flowers donations were and can be made to the Bible Society.
