Alta G. Wilkes, 86
Alta Grace Wilkes, 86, of Dublin, Ga., formerly of Angier, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Dublinair Health Care and Rehabilitation.
She was born June 10, 1923, the daughter of the late Robert Luther Fowler and Lillie Myrtle Roberts Fowler.
She was a longtime member of Springdale Baptist Church in Dublin where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir.
Mrs. Wilkes was preceded in death by her husband, Roger E. Wilkes; and a son, Randy Dewayne Wilkes.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her children, Larry Wilkes, Scottie Wilkes and Judy Harden, all of Dublin, Blanch Smith of Angier and Faye Johnson of Garner; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
