Harvey was one of 5 boys born to Jay Wilfred Shaver and mother Jean Adeline Hewitt Shaver in the year 1918 in Bengough, SK.
Harvey joined the RCAF in 1940. He married his wife Elsa Doris Cronquist in 1945.

Principals in a pretty wedding ceremony at Metropolitan manse were Cpl. Harvey J. Shaver, R.C.A.F., son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Shaver, Bengough, and Elsie Doris Cronquist, daughter of Mrs. E. Cronquist, Estevan. Dr. C.J. L. Bates officiated. The bride wore a shell pink crepe dress with rose corsage. Miss Lila Cronquist was matron of honor and Warren Peterson best man. Guests were: Mr. and Mrs. W.F, Peterson, Grant Peterson, Misses Alice Cronquist and Lila Cronquist, Estavan; Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Spooner, Regina. After a honeymoon trip to Banff, the bridal couple will live in Estavan.

They had four girls and one boy. Harvey served our country from 1940-1971. He lost his wife Doris in the year 2001and remarried in the year 2003 to June H. Chipchase Richardson. He passed away June 23, 2018 and was cremated and interred Sept 8, 2018 in The Northern Lights Cemetery in Edmonton, AB as per personal phone call to city of Edmonton.

Harvey Jay Shaver passed away Saturday June23, 2018 at the age of 99 years (and a half) in Mount Forest, Ontario. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born in Bengough, Saskatchewan, Harvey joined the RCAF in 1940. In his 31 years of service, he was posted to various locations across Canada and served Overseas in Marville, France from 1955-1958 before returning to Canada and living in Ontario and Alberta. He enjoyed weekends at his cabin by St. Paul. Predeceased by his wife of 56 years Doris Shaver ( nee Cronquist). Survived by his wife of 15 years June Richardson; his five children, 11 grandchildren, and eleven great- grandchildren. Also his brother Archie. He was step- father to 5 children and step- great- grandfather to three children. Also predeceased by his brothers Ken, Bob, and Norman and son in-law Bill Diederichs. A Royal Canadian Legion Service and Interment will be held at Northern Lights Cemetery, 15203 Campbell Road,N.W.at 11:30 a.m. Saturday Sept 8, 2018 followed by a Celebration of Life Service and Reception at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery 16102 Fort Road, N.W. at 1 :30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Harvey's name to Second Chance Animal Rescue Society.
