Johnny was a son of the late John H. Hedrick and Muriel Carter Chapman and the husband of Alma Lena McClellan Hedrick. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Jeannine Hedrick.

He is survived by his wife, Alma and three daughters; Louise Ann Hedrick, Betty Jean Baker both of Milton, and Alma F. Adkins of Ona, two sons and daughter-in-law; Ronald Ray Hedrick of Beaver, WV, and John Edward and Shirley Hedrick of Huntington, twelve grandchildren; Jessica Lynn Hedrick, Delbert "Buddy" Adkins, Dustin Edward Hedrick, Joshua Davis, John Zachary Hedrick, Rebecca Hedrick, Olivia Hedrick, T.J. Baker, Tiffany Hedrick, Tara Hedrick, Dillon Baker, and Sarah Hedrick, two sisters; Betty Griffith of Huntington and Dolly Garlick of Barboursville, four brothers; Bub, Bob, Schullar, and Jimmy Hedrick.
