Wenzel, Richard 1/5/1952 - 5/25/2019 Belleville, MI Mr. Wenzel, age 67, died unexpectedly at his home, Saturday. He was born in Ypsilanti, son of Arthur & Alice (Agge) Wenzel, Sr. Dick graduated from Belleville High School Class of 1970. He went to Eastern Michigan University where he received a double Master's in Secondary Education and Administration/Leadership. He taught at South Middle School for one semester, and retired from North Middle School in 2012, after 37 years, where he taught English, History and Social Studies. He enjoyed coaching Football and Baseball at North and volunteered at Belleville High School games. He loved his students and community, and organized the North Middle School Pancake Supper for years, as well as helped plan and attend 8th grade trips to Washington D.C. He also started the Media Productions program at North and taught Driver's Education each summer. He was a dedicated and loyal man who attended all of his daughters' band concerts, dance recitals, plays and many of his former students' activities and graduation parties. Survived by daughters Kara Ann (Noah Meyers) Wenzel of Washington, DC and Katy L. W. (Brent) Paiva of St. Louis, MO, grandson Bennett Wenzel Paiva, father-in-law Richard Felske, sister Kae (Jay) Hartford of Belleville and sister-in-law Ruth Ann Wenzel of Wayne. Also survived by extended family, friends, teaching colleagues, former students, and his dog Maggie May. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia Ann (Felske) Wenzel, mother-in-law Ann Felske, uncle Harvey "Happy" Wenzel, three brothers Marvin, Arthur Jr. and John "Mego" Wenzel, and sister-in-law Sherry Wenzel. Visitation 1-8 PM Wednesday with an 11:00 AM Funeral Thursday, May 30 at Brown Funeral Home, Belleville (734)697-4500. Interment Hillside Cemetery, Belleville.
