Back home, Jack jumped into civilian life; serving as President of Multipurpose Development Center (Casper Events Center); Casper Chamber of Commerce Committeeman of the Year; Vice President Security Bank and Trust Co and 1977 Boss of the Year; Vice President of Marketing and Personnel, First Wyoming Bank and many other community projects.
In January 1979, Jack left his position at First Wyoming Bank, to be the State Director/Wyoming Representative for Congressman Dick Cheney. Jack had great admiration for Representative Cheney and enjoyed traveling with and working for him. After five years, Jack resigned as Congressman Cheney’s representative.
Jack was blessed with two beautiful children, Shannon and Dave, with his first wife Barbara Adams and wanted to see more of their activities. As a loyal NCHS alum, he looked forward to seeing them experience their high school years. Jack worked in hospitality for a few years before finding his niche in real estate. He was President of the Casper Board of Realtors and State Director of Wyoming Realtors.
In 1989 friends introduced him to Sharon Bone “the love of his life and soul mate”. A year later on July 14, 1990, Jack and Sharon were married at the Alcova marina where they met, and he gained two more amazing children, Stacy and Cary. The lake was their favorite destination, spending time boating, skiing and fishing. Fittingly, they celebrated their 25th Anniversary, July 14, 2015 at the marina.
Jack is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter Shannon Orr (Jim), son Dave Berry, step-son Cary Bone (Genia), step-daughter Stacy Nelson (Bob); sister Barbara Bartels (Dale); Nine Grandchildren: Matt Orr (Ally), Justin Orr (Acacia), Allie Orr, Jada Berry, Cooper Berry, Trevor Bone, Austin Bone, Jadyn Nelson, and Brendyn Nelson; Three Great-grandchildren: Hunter Orr, Breckyn Orr and Harper Orr.
Jack was a man of character and a proud Marine. Most of all, he will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, who added light and laughter to all who knew him.
Military services will be held at 1:30 Thursday, May 30 at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery, followed by a reception at Bustard’s Funeral Home.
