Dwight was born in Decatur, Illinois on May 31, 1928. He served in the United States Navy. He worked for Wabash Railroad for many years as a telegrapher. He worked at Firestone for many years. Dwight loved his hobby of trains.
Dwight married his wife, Lucille W. Spaugh on May 18, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas. They were married for 69 years until the time of her death in 2015.
Dwight was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille W. Spaugh, son, Daniel Dwight Spaugh, daughter Jacqueline Kay Spaugh, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
He is survived by his brother John J. Spaugh, his 6 children Karen Joann (Spaugh) Lesner (John Lesner), Peggy Sue Spaugh, Dona Sue Nanney, Steven Wayne Spaugh (Lori White Spaugh), Lorie Ann (Spaugh) Bishop-Calfas (Rex Calfas), Michelle Lynne (Spaugh) Mulcahey (Michael Mulcahey), 16 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral service to celebrate his life will be 11 am Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will take place at 10 am Friday in Graham Chapel Cemetery, Allenville, IL.
