Daniel James Nichols, age 73, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, passed away at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri on Friday, May 24, 2019.
Danny was born on January 4, 1946, in Fulton, Missouri, the son of the late James B. Nichols and the late Mary Ellen (Yake) Nichols. Danny was united in marriage to June A. (Jeffrey) Nichols who survives his passing.
Danny attended Rankin Technical College. He worked as a machinist and tool and die maker for many years prior to becoming an FFA certified Air Frame and Power Plant mechanic for American Airlines. In his spare time, Danny loved to golf, bowl and fish, especially for Bass and Trout. He was an avid bicyclist and participated in the MS 150 twice. He also was a fan of wingless sprint car racing. More than anything he enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.
Along with his wife, June, Danny is survived by daughter, Christine Spencer (Brian) and daughter, Jennifer Gladden (Charles) ; son, Scott Nichols, (Ana); sister, Roberta Moore (Harvey); grandchildren, Jordan Woodford, Christopher Woodford, Garrett Gladden, Derek Spencer, Rachel Spencer, Savannah Nichols and Isabella Nichols; great-grandchild, Persephone Woodford; nieces, Michelle Robbins and Melissa Fischer; great-nephew, Ryan Oberlag and great-niece, Brooke Fischer.
Funeral services will be held on May 31, 2019 at 11:00am at Dry Fork Baptist Church with Dr. Lewis Curtis officiating. Internment will follow at Dry Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.
