Opal Ferguson, 86, Sturgis, died June 10, 2007, at Rapid City Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born Dec. 22, 1920, at Killdeer, N.D., to Roy and Etha (Williams) King.

She married Frank Ferguson in February of 1941. She will always be remembered for her fancy work and the time she volunteered at the Sturgis Senior Center and Shop. She worked many years at the Sturgis Community Hospital as a dietician. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma. She was also a wonderful cook.

She is survived by son, J.D. Ferguson and his wife, Debbie, Fort Lupton, Colo.; daughter, Linda Jorensen, and her husband, Bob, Sturgis; grandchildren, Cody Ferguson, Tori (Steve) Iske, Jamie (Kevin), JaeDee Ferguson, Bart (Valorie) Jorensen, and Loree (Bryon) Fite; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Haley, Callie, and Kelsey Evans, Kyle and Wyatt Huntley, Tavin and Brennan Aga, Aby Jorensen, and Tracey and Lukus Fite; and great-great-grandchildren, Lane Longbrake and Helen Fite.

Other special people in her life included Frank's son, Fred Ferguson; Barb Micheel; Ruth Lettau; Francis Ulrich; Lucille and Ula Ferguson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Etha; her husband, Frank; four sisters; and two brothers.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Bear Butte Cemetery. Friends and family should meet at the Kinkade Funeral Home to follow the procession to the cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the Sturgis Senior Center.
