Danny S. Edwards Sr, 71, Colona, formerly of Crawfordsville, Ind., passed away Oct. 6, 2017, at OSF St. Francis Hospital, Peoria, surrounded by his loving family. Danny had recovered, against all odds, to come home after his initial traumatic brain injury, to gift his family an additional nine months. We are blessed to have loved him.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with a time of sharing starting at 6 p.m. Private committal services will be held at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.
Danny was born Nov. 19, 1946, in Crawfordsville, the son of Ordley and Mary Edwards.

Danny co-owned My Type Inc. and Dedicated Employees Inc., using his extensive transportation industry skills. There wasn't a piece of equipment he couldn't operate.
Family left to honor his memory are his wife of 36 years, Dorothy (Beard) Edwards, Colona; children, Danny (Shelia) Edwards Jr., Vickie Edwards, Tina (Clayton) Abrell, Steven Dewiggins and Joey Dewiggins, all of Indiana; six grandchildren including, Josh and Trish; eight great-grandchildren; his wife's family, Denise (Mrs. Dennis Schultz), Megan and Patrick Maher and daughters, Riley and Blake, Gretchen and Bill Scott and sons, Caleb, Mitchell and Christian, of West Des Moines, Iowa.

He leaves his four-legged girls, Daffy and Missy; his kitties, CAC, Baby and Bitty; and special friends, Berto Villasenor, Nikki Henrichsen and Chris Dobereiner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Geneva (DeeDee); brother, Ronnie; his wife's family, Ina and Fred Beard and Dennis Schultz; and numerous four-legged kids.
When crossing the heavenly bridge, he was met by family, friends and pets who welcomed him home.
Memorials in Danny's name may be made to Oakwood Veterinary Clinic, Colona, or any animal welfare program.
