He played basketball and graduated from Norman Park College and also graduated from Georgia Southwestern with a degree in Physical Education. He was the Recreation Director for Grady County and he later went on to teach and coach in Georgia, Florida and Alabama.
He loved music, going fishing and working with kids.

his wife , whom he married in 1974
a son nand his wife
a daughter and her husband
6 grandchildren
a sister and her husband
a nephew
a brother-in-law
a niece,
numerous cousins.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Ron McCaskill officiated.
