Sylvia Jean Simon, 73, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on May 15, 2019, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on June 23, 1945, she was the daughter of Dick Hart and Mary “Cookie” Pfiffer. Sylvia worked as a substitute teacher for Bridge City ISD for many years. She enjoyed her work as a substitute and was well loved by the school. In her younger years, Sylvia sang professionally with a band, where she met her husband of almost 41 years, George Simon, while performing. When she was singing, she went by her stage name, Jean Hart. Sylvia was also a very talented artist, focusing mainly on painting landscapes and animals. She was a lover of all animals, especially birds. Sylvia will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dick Hart.

She is survived by her loving husband, George Simon of Bridge City; her mother, Cookie Pfiffer of Rowe, New Mexico; her children, Roxanne Boyd of Bainbridge Island, Washington, Michael Simon and wife Wendy of Richland Hills, Texas, and Darren Scott Simon of Austin, Texas; her cousins, Donnie Waldrep of Oahu, Hawaii and Paul Terry Stuckey of League City, Texas; her 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Molly.

Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Terry Stuckey, Donnie Waldrep, Ben Meadows, Coach Miller, Michael Simon, and Darren Simon.
