Juanita Ann Phillips was one of twin daughters born November 26, 1930 to Joe and Mabel Pickett at Cyril, OK. An older brother, Gerald completed the family. Juanita always counted being a twin a special blessing God allowed her to enjoy.

The Pickett family lived on farms at Cyril, Wheatland and Mustang, Oklahoma. Juanita graduated from Mustang High School in 1949. She then moved to Oklahoma City where she was employed as a stenographer and a secretary for 15 years.

On January 1, 1955, she married Edward E. Phillips. A daughter, Jill Ann, was born into their family in 1966.

Juanita enjoyed being a wife, mother and homemaker. She liked sharing the pressed flower pictures she made plus the needlework she created with her artistic abilities. Juanita drew daily and had hopes of being a fashion illustrator. She formed a friendship with a local artist who rendered drawings for Ruth Meyers, a high-end boutique in Nichols Hills, which appeared in the daily newspaper. This natural talent was a great pleasure in her lifetime. She was also an extraordinary gardener and loved to entertain and play cards and board games.

As a member of the Sunshine Extension Homemakers Group, Juanita participated in the Canadian County fair, served on county committees and practiced the better methods of homemaking that was learned. Many good friendships were also developed from this association.

The most important decision Juanita made was to become a Christian at age 10, then to live daily as God would have her to live. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years. It was her joy to see those many boys and girls that had been in her classes become good Christians as they grew older. Her church life and its family were very dear to her.

Survivors include daughter, Jill May; nieces and nephews, plus many good friends.

Viewing will be Tuesday 12-9pm at Mercer-Adams. Graveside service will be held 10:00am, Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
