Nettleton — Catherine D. Gray, 93, passed away on May 24, 2019, at Diversicare Nursing Center, Amory, MS. Born on September 25, 1925, in the Liberty Community near Nettleton, she was a daughter of the late Roger Franklin and Lucille Johnson Gray.

Catherine attended Pine Grove and Nettleton Schools. She was of the Baptist faith and for many years, she attended Liberty Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her family greatly. Catherine helped her father on the farm for many years. She was a quiet woman and she babysat many children during her lifetime. Catherine kept to herself and enjoyed reading. She was a local history buff who loved her community and loved researching genealogy facts for family and friends. She was affectionately known as “Bessie” and she often kept up with all pertinent events occurring in the Liberty Community.

In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, scrap booking, gardening, cooking and spending time with her precious family. She was blessed with wonderful nieces and nephews. She especially liked spending time with her great niece and nephew, Abby and Adam. The love and care she showed her family and friends will always be cherished by those closest to her. She will be dearly missed.

Catherine is survived by nieces, Jennifer Johnson (Brian), Lindy Murphy, and Lisa Gray; great niece and nephew, Abby and Adam Jones, Nettleton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James Gray and Earl “Pete” Gray.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Wes Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery and the Pallbearers will include Adam Jones, Robert Gray, Roger Hester, Michael Hester, and Lance Payne.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 9 AM until 10:45 AM at the funeral home in Amory.
