Walter C Ball, known to his friends and loved ones as “Cliff”, of Summerfield, Florida passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Ted & Diane Brandley Hospice House, Summerfield, Florida at the age of 82.



Cliff was born in Genoa, West Virginia a son of the late Walter and Adeline Ball. He retired from the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, Air Controller after serving for over 22 years. He then went on to a 20+ year career as a civil servant, serving as Airport Manager at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. and Naval Air Station Jacksonville, in Jacksonville, Florida.



Upon his second retirement, Cliff fulfilled his lifelong dream of retiring to a country club where he could play golf 3 days a week, fly his own airplane, and enjoy his children and grandchildren. He was a resident of Spruce Creek Country Club for more than 20 years.



Cliff is survived by his three children: June (Tim) Abner of Clay City, KY; Janet Ball (Jim Davis) San Mateo, CA; and Jerry Estes (Kelly) of Sevierville, TN. Cliff was most proud of his four grandchildren: Jordan Estes (My redheaded granddaughter); McKenna Estes (Mac); Jaxon Strausburg (Jax-Man) and Jarod Ferrari (J-Rod). Cliff is also survived by his sister Lois Bennett of Oxford, Florida; David Ball (Donna) of Plano, TX and Larry Ball (Celeste) of Lake Havasu, AZ. He was preceded in death by brothers Gary and Charles.



A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy. Arrangements entrusted to the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, FL 32159. Condolences may be left at Hiers-Baxley.com.
