BRIDGEWATER — M. Helen Shifflett Fifer, 77, of Route 2, Bridgewater died early Monday morning at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where she had been admitted after suffering a heart attack.

Mrs. Fifer was born April 11, 1910, at Burketown and was a daughter of the late Clinton S. and Annie Glick Shifflett.

She was a member of Summit Church of the Brethren.

On March 30, 1940, she married Ward H. Fifer, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Shirley Anne Fifer of Cincinnati; four brothers, W. Newton Shifflett of Staunton, C. Glick Shifflett of Goleta, Calif., and Joe S. and Sam P. Shifflett, both of Weyers Cave; and a sister, Lois S. Terry of Bridgewater.

A private service will be conducted Wednesday at the Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral Home in Harrisonburg by the Rev. Donald G. Hubbell. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations be made to the Summit Church of the Brethren Organ Fund in care of Ivy Coffee, Route 1, Box 533, Weyers Cave 24486.
