Nancy Erickson, 79, of Sioux Falls, SD died Friday, May 24, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society Center in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls. Visitation with family present to greet friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Nancy Jane Fenske, daughter of Emil and Berniece (Orndorff) Fenske was born March 27, 1940, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She grew up in Fergus Falls and graduated with the class of 1958. Nancy was united in marriage to Norman Erickson on June 3, 1969, and the couple would spend the next 50 years in devotion to each other. She worked as a bookkeeper for First National Bank in Fargo, ND and Bank of the West in Pierre, SD for 12 years before her retirement. Nancy and Norman had been faithful members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls for over 25 years.
In her spare time, she enjoyed her flower garden, reading, and going to the casino. The annual summer vacation to the Black Hills was always looked forward to by the whole family. While weekend trips were fun, she also looked forward to being home and just spending time with her loved ones. Of all her likes and interests, her family always came first. She was always attentive to her family’s safety and would be expecting that call to make sure you got where you were going safely. Being grandma was one of the highlights of her life and she was proud of all of her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Denine (Mark) Paler of West Fargo, ND and Yancy Erickson of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Tanner Erickson, Brennan Thiele, Chad Erickson, Joshua Thiele, and Aubrey Erickson; sisters, Sharon Moe of Eau Claire, WI and Janice (Vernon) Johansen of Underwood, MN; and brother, Roger Fenske of Fergus Falls, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman in April of 2019; two sons, Chad and Todd; and brother-in-law, Dennis Moe.
