Stella Cates Davis, of Poosey Ridge, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the age of 104 years and 5 months. She was born on Owlsey Fork in Madison County, Ky. on December 21, 1914, the fourth child born to W. M. “Bill” and Goldie Agee Cates. Being a farm housewife, she helped work the farm and take care of her home. She could cook delicious meals and was an accomplished seamstress who loved to quilt. She enjoyed participating in Cottonburg Homemakers Club and served her Lord through the Gilead Baptist Church, Poosey United Methodist Church and Salem Christian Church.

Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Edd Davis; a son, Kyle Nelson Davis; siblings, Ethel Collins, George B. Cates, Carrie McCulley, Ann Masters, Ina Cates and Mable Prather.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Stocker (Vernon), of Poosey Ridge; three grandchildren, Donnie Stocker, Jennifer Miller and Melissa Davis; four great-grandchildren, Wesley Stocker, Chloe Messina, Rachael Evans and Morgan Benton; two great-great grandchildren, Landon Messina and Addison Velez; several nieces and nephews.
