Joceyln was educated in the Atlanta Public School System; she attended R.L. Craddock Elementary School, Kennedy Middle School, and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1976. She went on to become a dietician at Emory Hospital and later became disabled.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melton Knight, Jr. and Margaret Brown Knight; and two sisters, Cheryl Knight Grimes and Angela Knight Deskins.
