Albert Henle was the son of Johann (John) Henle and Sophia Stehle. According to the records of the Salem Evangelical Church in Farmington, Michigan, he was the only one of four children to have survived into adulthood. Albert was born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in New York City, but after his father passed away sometime in the late 1850s, Albert came to Michigan with his mother Sophia. She married a Farmington blacksmith named Wilhelm (William) Heise. Albert learned blacksmithing from his step-father. On November 21, 1900, he married Barbara Hanton in Detroit at the SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Cathedral. They had two daughters, Edna, and Marguerite (Margaret). Sadly, Barbara Henle passed away from pulmonary disease in 1907, leaving Albert to raise the girls. They would live with him while he was alive. It was around this time that Albert found work as a machinist at a Detroit automobile factory, but the job must not have been to his liking as he quit. He and a partner then opened up a blacksmith shop on Grand River Avenue on Detroit's far west side. After blacksmithing became all but obsolete, Albert retired and spent the rest of his life at his Redford Township home. He died of chronic myocarditis/acute gastritis at his home in Redford on December 26, 1934, and was buried in an unmarked grave at Detroit's Holy Cross Cemetery.
