DECATUR — Peggye Joyce Collier Ratliff, 90, of Decatur, Alabama passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born on August 12, 1928 in Decatur, Alabama. She was retired from Fairfax County Virginia Public Schools with 20 years as a Food Service worker. She was a faithful member of Ox Hill Baptist Church in Chantilly, Virginia for 22 years. When she moved back to Decatur, Peggye transferred her membership to Southside Baptist Church.

Peggye was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Thomas Ratliff, Jr. (of Fairfax, Virginia, formerly of Decatur, Alabama). She is also preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Elizabeth Collier, Sr. of St. Petersburg, Florida; her brother, Roy S. Collier, Jr. (Decatur, Alabama); her sisters, Betty Inez Thrasher (Decatur, Alabama), Nell Brantley (St. Petersburg, Florida), Helen Donnelly (Pittsburgh, Texas), Faye Collier (Madison, Alabama); nephews, Danny Thrasher, Bill Thrasher and Kenneth Craft.

Survivors include one daughter, Pamela Ratliff Hixson (Jim) of Fairfax, Virginia; one son, Steven Thomas Ratliff (Tammy) of Centreville, Virginia; one brother, Freddie Earl Collier (Fran) of St. Petersburg, Florida. Peggye is survived by loving grandchildren, Rebecca Hixson of Nashville, Tennessee; Courtney Hixson Kline (Jacob) of Brambleton, Virginia; Kate Elizabeth Ratliff of Yellowstone, Wyoming and Thomas Wayne Ratliff of Rochester, New York. She has one great-grandson, Tyler James Henry Kline of Brambleton, Virginia.

Funeral arrangements are Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Ridout’s Brown-Service Chapel where the children and grandchildren will be receiving family and friends from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Funeral services will start at noon with Tommy Thrasher officiating. Family and friends will then have a short graveside service at Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville immediately following the funeral.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Ratliff, Jacob Kline, Jim Hixson, Tim Craft, Blake Tolbert and Mike Hestla.

The Family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the family members for watching over Mother. Also, a big thank you to friends and employees of Summerford Nursing Home and The Terrace at Priceville for their love and care these last few years.
