John Hahn, 62, of Elm Creek passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at his home due to complications from ALS. Celebration of life services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28th, 2019 at the Kearney E-Free Church. Pastor Scott Foster will officiate. Interment will follow at the Elm Creek Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services.
John Raymond Hahn was born on October 9, 1956 in Kearney, Nebraska to Raymond and Lois (Beavers) Hahn. He grew up in Elm Creek and graduated from Elm Creek High School with the class of 1975. He attended Central Community College at Hastings. Then he worked for Sperry New Holland in Lexington and received his apprenticeship in Tool & Die. After the plant closed, he got a job at Baldwin Filters. He was employed there for 31 years as a Tool & Die Maker and was a Lead Person.
He was united in marriage to Kathleen M. Voichoski on September 24, 1977 in Spalding, and to this union two children were born: Sadie and Derek. John was a family man and loved his family dearly. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Elm Creek.
John was an avid Husker and Vikings fan and he enjoyed watching all sports. He enjoyed barbecuing, gardening, camping, boating and spending time with family and friends. He loved to fish especially with his son and good friends. Watching his Grandson Karson growing up and seeing him learn new things gave him much joy.
He was a dependable, hardworking and honest man. He had many friends, all of whom he would do anything for. He loved to give people a hard time by joking around with them, but he was also a good listener and he had a big heart. He brought much joy to everyone he was in contact with. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him will greatly miss him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathleen of Elm Creek; daughter, Sadie Hahn of Elburn, Illinois; son, Derek (Jasmine) Hahn and grandson, Karson of North Platte; sister, Peg (Mike) Robinson of Kearney; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Deborah Tomcak;father-in-law and grandparents.
