"Lyle N Preston, 95, formerly of Pleasantville and Central Towers, Titusville, died at 2:50 pm Wednesday, Nov 11, 1998, at Beverly Healthcare, Inc, Titusville, where he was a resident since May 20. Mr Preston was born in the Tightpinch area, Allegheny Township, Venango County, a son of John H and Adria Howard Preston. He married the former Gretchen Sterling, Nov 30, 1933, in Pleasantville. As a young man, Mr Preston's work in the oil fields began with Queen Oil of Tidioute. He also worked for R M Davidson, Shamburg Exploration, Haully Oil Co, Pat Oil Co, Wolf's Head Oil Co and finally for Floyd J Carter Building Contractor, retiring in 1975. Mr Preston was a member of the Pleasantville United Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, a resident of Beverly Healthcare; a brother-in-law, Alfred E Sterling of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three nephews, Bruce Sterling of East Haven, Connecticut, Keith L Sterling of Apple Valley, Minnesota, and Tim Wilson of Centerville; [and] two nieces, Marjorie Nitzel of Mt Vernon, Ohio, and Bertrelle Sorenson of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Carlson, and three brothers, Howard, DeWayne and Roy Preston. Relatives and friends will be received...at the Leo N Hennes Funeral Home...The funeral service [will be held] at 2:30 pm [Monday] with Rev David J Duquette, pastor of the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery."
