Son of Rudolph Ely Emerson and Alice Irene Gordon. He was the third of four children.

Lester married Bertha Leora Biehler November 21, 1903 in Seneca County, Ohio. Together they had a daughter Alice Rosalind Emerson.

He was an old time band musician and composed at least three pieces of music for the piano: In 1896 the Paris Exposition, in 1897 The Klondike March, and in 1918 the US Aviators March. These are archived at the Library of Congress. He had also been a printer for the Tiffin Tribune and then the Monarch Manufacturing Co.

He then married Jessie Isabel Buck September 3, 1927 in Seneca County, Ohio.

His draft registration cards described him as 5' 10 1/2" tall and slender with blue eyes and brown hair with a light complexion.

Was ill for two years and taken care of by his wife Jesse before his death. Passed away in his home at 211 Wentz. Obituary was published in the Advertiser Tribune July 22, 1967. Funeral was held at the Bame Funeral Home with Rev. Francis Snare July 24, 1967.
