Sherry "Sherri" Lynn Wood, age 66 of Thomson, Illinois passed away in her home on Monday, May 13, 2019. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial gathering will be held from 12-4 pm Sunday, May 26th at the Riverview Lodge in Thomson, Illinois.
Sherry was born September 20, 1952 in Clinton, IA to Marvin and Geraldine (Thompsen) Heneke.
Sherry was a graduate of the Maquoketa Community High School and lived the majority of her life in the surrounding area, with her later years being enjoyed in semi-retirement near the Mississippi River in Thomson, IL.
Sherry enjoyed many outdoor activities including boating, camping, and traveling the country. She and long time partner Jerry Costello traversed the Continental U.S as well as several regions of Canada in their RV. Sherry also enjoyed to dance, and had a special place in her heart for live music.
Sherry’s life was not all play. She and Jerry spent many years together renovating houses around the Maquoketa area for use as rental properties. Sherry excelled in her skills at painting and decorating the homes.
In recent years, Sherri could often be found in her home sitting at the table with the Hallmark channel on the tv, watching the Mississippi roll by, with a caramel frappe in hand, and a smile on her face. She was loved, and will be missed.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Geraldine Heneke; partner, Jerry Costello and her beloved pets Cody and Maggie.
She is survived by her closest friends, Deb Olsen, Ray Karleskind, Bret Tallman and David Cavanagh.
