Terry Thomas Brooks, 69, of Pekin, passed away at 3:35 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019 at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.
Born April 2, 1950 in Kankakee to Herbert S. and Vernell (Cote) Brooks, he married Toni L. Thomas on September 15, 1973 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Bradley T. Brooks of East Peoria and Jeffrey A. Brooks of Marquette Heights; two grandchildren, Dominic and Isabella Brooks, both of East Peoria; and one brother, Gary (Dorita) Hamende of Hernando, Florida. He also leaves behind his special close friends, William Bass, Jr. and Katrina Catton of Peoria and their three children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Marcotte.
Terry was the owner of Little Grocery in East Peoria for 30 years, retiring in 2011. It was the largest lottery agent in downstate Illinois for many years.
He was a graduate of Eastridge High School in Kankakee and went to Peoria Barber College. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed coaching Little League baseball when his boys were young.
He served on the board for the East Peoria Sanitary District for many years. Above all, Terry loved his family and his dog, Zero.
Cremation rites will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The family will host a celebration of life service at Dayspring Native American United Methodist Church, located at 201 North Norwood in East Peoria, Saturday June 8, 2019 from 1 to 3 p.m.
