His OBITUARY:

Steven Floyd Chafin, 53, of Hatfield, Ky. was called home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. Born July 29, 1954 at Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Rush Floyd Chafin and Carmen Collier Chafin. In addition to his father, Steven was preceded in death by grandparents Isom and Nora Collier and Garland and Barbara Chafin. A member of the Bells of Joy United Baptist Church; Steve was the owner/operator of Chafin Cartage Trucking; and was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include mother Carmen Collier Chafin of Jacksonville, Fla.; Madonna Pinson Chafin of Hatfield, Ky.; son Steven Cory Chafin of the home; daughter Christen (R.P.) Vipperman of Hatfield, Ky.; brother Ronald Chafin of Jacksonville, Fla.; two precious grandchildren known as "Poppy's girls," Summer Grace Vipperman and Abbigail Talyse Vipperman of Hatfield, Ky.; In-laws Bill and Brenda Pinson of Hatfield, Ky.; Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday,July 24, 2008 at Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Belfry, Ky. with Elders of the Bells of Joy United Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Huddy, Ky. Active pallbearers will include Steven Cory Chafin, R.P. Vipperman, Ronald Chafin, Tyler Williams, Keith Pinson and Mike Sammons. Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow truck drivers Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today and anytime Wednesday at the funeral home with a special tribute service at 7p.m. Wednesday. On August 4th 1972 Steven Floyd Chafin married his first wife Cheryl Ann Schrader at the Reynoldsburg Baptist Church on Rosehill Rd. They had one child Tracy Lynn in 1973 who was raised by her grandparents, Bob and Juanita Schrader.
