William Edwin "Skeeter" Carnell, 88, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Monday, May 20, 2019, at Tennessee Veterans Home in Humboldt, Tennessee.
Born Friday, April 10, 1931, in Newbern, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Robert Benson Carnell and the late Lora M. Chapman Carnell. He was a retired employee of Heckethorn Manufacturing, lifetime member of Newbern Masonic Lodge, proudly served his country in the United States Navy and enjoyed spending time on the family farm.
Graveside services for Mr. Carnell will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Mr. Patrick Williams.
He is survived by one son, Bob Carnell (Carol) of Germantown, Tennessee; two daughters, Cheryl Capps and Mendy Carnell both of Newbern, Tennessee; five grandchildren, William Capps, Gena Goodman, Brian Carnell, Matt Carnell and McKenze Carnell and four great-grandchildren, Dixie, Colby, Hunter and Hailey.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Shirley Ann Tharpe Carnell; three brothers, J. R. Carnell, Paul Carnell and Luke Carnell and one sister, Lurline Lewellyng.
Pallbearers will be Bob Carnell, Matt Carnell, Brian Carnell, Gerald Carnell, Pat Rhodes, William Capps, Austin Gregory and Hank Gray.
