Hilda was born August 17, 1926 in Potsdam, the daughter of the late Delbert H. and Armeda (Russell) Green. She was a graduate of Potsdam High School. On February 16, 1946, she married Lester W. Mayo at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Potsdam with Rev. Joseph Tierney, officiating. Lester predeceased her February 5, 1992.
Hilda was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and knitting, especially slippers.
Hilda is survived by her children, Dianne Mayo and Roy and Pat Mayo, all of Potsdam; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer “Belle” Dunn of Pittsburgh; her grandchildren, Danny Nelson of California; Tanya Delosh of Norwood; and Eugene Mayo of Potsdam; her great grandchildren, Justine, Alexis, Chelsea, Brandi, and Jack; her sister, Emma Martin of Boston; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Randy on July 11, 2008; and her brothers, Russell, Louis, and Francis Green; and Horace “Stub” and George Greene.
Friends may call at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam on May 29th from 3-6:00 p.m. Hilda will be laid to rest with her husband, Lester in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Potsdam on May 30th at 11:00 p.m. with graveside service led by Rev. Stephen Rocker.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
