Kelly Renee Murray was born June 13, 1960, in San Jose, CA, to Fredric “Skip” and Myrna (Bellefeuille) Murray. She grew up in Naytahwaush, MN, where she attended elementary school. Kelly also attended Mahnomen High School and furthered her education at Northland Community Technical College and White Earth Tribal Community College. She earned her Diploma as an LPN, an accomplishment she was very proud of. As a young lady, Kelly spent many years with her significant other, William S. Keezer, until his death in 1986. Kelly was employed through the years with the White Earth Tribal Council and the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. Her recent decline in health forced her into early retirement.
Kelly loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Her granddaughter, Kellyn, was her pride and joy. Family was the most important thing to her, and she cherished each and every family gathering. She enjoyed cooking for her family and her specialty was fry bread. When she wasn’t cooking or visiting with friends and family on the phone, Kelly could be found making native crafts, doing beadwork and listening to music. She will live on in the hearts of those lucky enough to have known her.
Kelly is survived by her mother, Myrna Smith; two daughters, Rebecca and Raven; one son, William “Billy Joe” ; five grandchildren: Tristen, Dion, Brijah, Kellyn and Kylen; three great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; special niece whom she raised, Kayla; two brothers, Russell (Tracy) and Fredric; sister, Tammy; her adopted mother, Althea; great aunt, Verna; aunts, Marilyn and Janice; nieces and nephews: Lowell, Mitchell, Duane, Skip, Eliza, Zoe, Christopher, Isabel, Brayden; great niece and nephew, Misty and Donovan and many cousins and friends.
