Mandy Marie Carter – Shinpaugh, age 35, was involved in a car accident on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, in Waxahachie, and went on to be with the Lord.

On February 14, 2011, Valentine’s Day, Mandy decided to be an organ donor and give life. On May 19, 2019, she gave the gift of life, so that other families could have more time to love one another on this earth.

Mandy was born in Methodist Hospital in Dallas Texas, on August 3, 1983, the same hospital she gave life to others 35 years later. Mandy loved her family deeply and the community she grew up in, the City of Waxahachie. Waxahachie was more than a city on a map to Mandy —it was home, it was community, it was family.

Mandy loved being a mother more than anything. It was her love for her children that inspired her to fulfill her lifelong dream of being a schoolteacher. Soon after her last child Madelyn Grace was born, at the age of 29 she made the step to go back to school and finish her teaching degree. She attended Navarro College in Waxahachie, receiving her associate’s degree and then transferred to Texas A&M Commerce at the Midlothian Campus graduating with honors as the salutatorian in 2015, with a Bachelors Degree in Education. Mandy accomplished this task with four children, and working at the same time. It was a testimony of her perseverance that she never let hardship keep her down.

Her first twoyears of teaching were in Lancaster, Texas, at the Life School Campus as an Elementary Teacher. She married the man of her dreams Darren Todd Carter, her second year of teaching April 28, 2017. It was another lifelong goal to walk down the aisle with her father (Rick ‘Doc’ Shinpaugh), which she was able to accomplish.

Mandy’s lifelong dream was to teach in the Waxahachie School District so she took a step back by becoming an instructional aide at Finley Middle School. She fell in love with Middle School and everyone fell in love with her. She was offered a position at the new middle school and became a part of the Coleman Family in 2018. She excelled at her position because she put her whole heart into everything she did. Mandy finished her first year of teaching in the district where she always wanted to teach with the some of the highest test scores in the district.

Mandy left this earth fulfilling all her dreams as a daughter, sister, mother, wife and teacher.

She is survived by Rick ‘Doc’ and Connie Shinpaugh (parents), Darren Todd Carter (husband), Lindsey Reslick – Shinpaugh (sister), Shannon Hoggard – Shinpaugh (sister), Chis Shinpaugh (brother), Megan Macaluso (daughter), Katelyn Macaluso (daughter), Travis Macaluso (son) and Madelyn Grace Macaluso (daughter).

Friends and family are encouraged to gather for a time of visitation Friday, May 24, 2019 from 5 to 8 in the evening at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1826 W. Hwy 287 Business, Waxahachie, TX 75165

Services celebrating Mandy's life will be held Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 11 o'clock in the morning at the Avenue Church, 1761 US-77, Waxahachie, TX 75165, with Pastor David Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
