Martha Mary (Gloudemans) Diedrick, age 88, went to say her rosary with the Lord on July 1, 2006, at Angelus Retirement Community in Appleton where she had been living for the past year. She was born on May 10, 1918, to Henry and Harriet "Hattie" (Vosters) Gloudemans in Little Chute. Hattie died a few days before Martha's 6th birthday. A couple of years later, Henry married a widow, Elizabeth (Molitor) Schumacher. Their union made Martha one of 15 children.

Martha married Elmer M. Diedrick on June 25, 1940. Elmer predeceased her on November 13, 1997. They lived most of their married life in Appleton where they were members of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Martha is survived by her eight children: Char (Fred) Steenis, Town of Menasha; Jan Diedrick, Appleton; JoAnne (Tom) Schuler, Town of Buchanan; Richard (Yang) Diedrick, Woodbridge, VA; Julie (Gary) Van Camp, Freedom; Ron "Elmer" Diedrick, Appleton; Terri Diedrick, Appleton; Larry Diedrick, Appleton; eight grandchildren: Paul Steenis, Laurie Steenis, Mark (Jeni) Steenis, Rebecca Hooyman, Ryan (Sarah Rose) Van Camp, Cory (Casey) Van Camp, Alissa (Chris Effa) Van Camp, and Paige Diedrick; eight great-grandchildren: Gretchen Withrow, Eliese Heckert, Jacob Steenis, Ashley Steenis, Dylan Steenis, Reegan Van Camp, Drew Van Camp, Breleigh Van Camp, and Sawyer Van Camp. She is further survived by her brothers: Bill Gloudemans and Tony (Verna) Gloudemans; her sisters: Marian Wilz and Marjorie "Margie" Meulemans; her brother and sister-in-laws: Ted Van Handel, Margaret Schumacher, Valeria Gloudemans, and Jacquelyn "Jackie" Gloudemans.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: John Gloudemans, Bob Schumacher, Ed Schumacher, Willis Schumacher, Joe Gloudemans, Rich Gloudemans, and Pete Gloudemans (a twin); her sisters: a baby sister, Mary (a twin), Elizabeth "Lizzie" Van Handel, Anne Schumacher, Elizabeth "Toots" Schumacher; her in-laws: Bernie Meulemans, Margaret Gloudemans, Florence Gloudemans, Millie Schumacher and Joe Wilz.

Mass of the Resurrection for Martha will be held on Friday, July 7, 2006, at 5 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, WI with the Rev. Larry Abler officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church Friday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Angelus Retirement Community where she has made her home for the past year. You treated Mom like your own mother!! We would also like to thank Dr. John Swanson, his staff, and especially Mary Jo. Mom's last months were made more comfortable with the help of Aseracare Hospice - thank you!
