Christopher Chase Hawkins, 34, of Caraway, AR died late afternoon on Thursday (May 16, 2019) in Brookhaven, MS after falling from the top of a 280-foot radio tower, according to the Daily Leader. Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris, pronounced Hawkins dead at the scene at about 5 p.m. McMorris said Hawkins appears to have slipped from the top of the tower as he and another worker were changing out lightning rods on the structure located at the end of Clarkwood Trail in Brookhaven.

“They were here doing maintenance on it. He apparently unhooked for some reason and lost his balance,” McMorris said.

The Brookhaven Police Department is assisting OSHA with the investigation the Daily Leader reported.

Services will be held Monday morning (May 20, 2019) for tower technician Christopher Hawkins, 34, of Caraway, AR who passed away Thursday after falling from a 300-foot guyed tower in Brookhaven, Miss.

Visitation for the father of two children will be at Monette Church of Christ, 702 Drew Ave., Monette, AR at 10 a.m. followed by services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Leachville Cemetery

Survivors include: his mother, Terry Sutton (Larry) of Luxora, AR; his father, Royce Hawkins of Caraway, AR; his daughter, Kristen Hawkins of Big Flat, AR; his son Braxton Hawkins of Big Flat, AR; his brother, Wes Hawkins (Brandi) of Schugtown, AR; his grandparents, Bill and Patricia Hawkins of Monette, AR; and a host of other family, friends and fellow tower hands.

Note: The Hubble Foundation has announced they will be collecting donations for the family.###
