Brenda Cannon Hammonds, age 75 of Whitesburg, passed away May 19, 2019. She was born July 21, 1943 in Cherokee County, Georgia, daughter of the late Ralph Cannon and Modieree Goins Cannon. She worked for United Notions for more than 20 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Hammonds; and sister, Annette Culberson. She is survived by her children, Tanya Hammonds (Chad Mickle) of Whitesburg, Tony Hammonds (Darlene) of Villa Rica, and Timmy Hammonds of Whitesburg; sisters, Joyce Lanning of Mt. Zion and Sherrie Blalock of Whitesburg; five grandchildren, Jessi Hammonds, Kristie Butterworth (Evan), Corey Brown, Chandler Brown (Katie), and Kason Mickle; and three great grandchildren, Bailey Smith, Bryce Butterworth, and Kace Butterworth. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 1:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Anthony Puckett and David Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Thomas Lanning, Roger Culberson, Mathias Hammonds, Chris Lanning, Teddy Hund and Joe Hammonds. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
