Born in 1948 to Roy and Terese (Plate) McLaughlin, she received her degree in education from Mount Mary College. She earned her Master’s in Adult and Family Ministry from St. Mary University, Winona MN. She spent her career as a first-grade teacher, religious educator, and pastoral minister. After ministering in Milwaukee, Kaukauna, Green Bay, and West Allis, she finished her career serving the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Elm Grove.
Through her struggles with ALS, she embraced the motto “Life is for living!” She loved to spend time with her family, pray, travel, and spoil her grandchildren. She had an absolutely beautiful singing voice.

Colleen will be deeply missed by her husband Mark Mitchell, children: Terese (Paul) Bauer and Maureen (David) Classen, and 7 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved brother Dennis McLaughlin and her dear nephew Joseph McLaughlin.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (3722 S. 58th St., Milwaukee, WI) from 10:30-11:45 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon. Burial will take place at 4 PM at St. Martin of Tours Cemetery in Franklin, WI.
