Carla Tinelli Stern, passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Neptune, Carla grew up in Wanamassa and graduated from Ocean Township High School. She was a member of the Church of the Ascension in Bradley Beach. Carla owned Books Unlimited in Neptune City and was a member of the American Booksellers Association for over 25 years. She was the past president of the Wilson School PTO in Neptune City. Carla was a member of the Jersey Shore Chapter of the Disneyana Fan Club. She did contract work for many U.S. Post Offices in the shore area. Carla enjoyed traveling and her two favorite trips were to Italy and Hawaii. She enjoyed her many trips to Walt Disney World with family and friends. Carla will be remembered for her kindness with everyone who knew her. She will be missed by her extended family and many close friends.
Carla is predeceased by her father, Frank Tinelli. She is survived by her husband, Michael Stern; daughter, Sarah Lee Stern; mother, Irene Tinelli, Neptune City; sister, Joanne Milano, Neptune; mother-in-law, Lillian Stern, Neptune City; sisters-in-law, Linda Stitely, Palm City, FL, Sharon Smith, Palm City, FL, Shirley (Poland) Longo, Ocean Twp., Susan Talarico, Landenburg, PA, Dolores White, Miami, OK; niece, Andrea Milano; nephew, Joesph Milano, many other nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 at Ely Funeral Home, 3316 Hwy. 33, Neptune. Condolences may also be made online at www.elyfuneralhome.com.
