Migrated to Graves Co. on 27 Oct. 1819. Considered to be the founder of the city of Mayfield. Appointed by the Legislature as a trustee of the town of Mayfield on 7 Jan. 1824. In April, 1825, he was licensed to 'keep tavern' at his house. He became the first county court clerk of Graves County in 1823 and held that post, and that of circuit clerk, until his death in 1842. John Anderson was one of the first ordained elders of the Mayfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church, founded in 1832. In 1832, John Anderson and others were appointed as a committee to draft plans for a new court house in Mayfield.

In the information that I have it says that he died bet 1842 - Nov 1844.
