The daughter of CAPT. SAMUEL & MARY (WILTON) MARSHALL, she married CAPT. JOSEPH HAWLEY on September 24, 1676 in Northampton, Mass. They were the parents of at least seven children.
Lydia's father was killed at The Great Swamp Fight in Rhode Island in 1675 when she was about 20 yrs. of age. Her grandfather, LIET. DAVID WILTON, in his will, bequeathed land next to his home lot to Joseph & Lydia providing that they build on it and live there for four years.
